Cover Options

All our cover options provide many of the same benefits. The cover options have been created so you can choose the cover that you want.

We cannot make recommendations on the suitability of any option for you, but we hope that the following information will help you decide.

Do you have Private Medical Insurance?

You can pay a lower premium by choosing our Medicare cover option, but ONLY if you have Private Medical Insurance covering Emergency Medical Expenses abroad.

If you do not have Private Medical Insurance with Emergency Medical Expenses cover abroad, then you cannot be covered under Laya Healthcare Travel Insurance. It will not provide the cover you need.

Winter Sports cover?

If you will be undertaking any Winter Sport activity, you must choose cover for Winter Sports.

Our Winter Sports extension provides cover for the following activities ONLY: Skiing, land-skiing, mono-skiing, cross-country skiing, heli-skiing, off-piste skiing (only when accompanied by an official guide), snow boarding, ski boarding, snow mobile (however no Personal Liability cover applies for this activity), sledging, tobogganing or ice skating.

Our Winter Sports extension does NOT provide cover for: any winter sport when part of a competition or tournament, any winter sport when taking part on a professional basis, ski bob racing, ski jumping, ice hockey and the use of bobsleighs and skeletons. You may not buy our cover if you intend to undertake any of these sports.

Off Piste?

We recognise that you may go off-piste. You should only do so if you have the appropriate skills and equipment and are accompanied by someone who knows the area well.

Prevented from skiing?

If your ski pass is lost or stolen, we'll pay for the unused portion up to a maximum of €200. If you get ill or have an accident we'll pay for the unused portion of your ski pack up to a maximum of €200. If you are unable to ski for over 24 consecutive hours because of lack of snow in your resort and there's no alternative skiing available, we'll pay €20 for each full 24 hour period, with a maximum of €200 per holiday.

Accident on the slopes?

If your activity is not excluded by the policy, we will cover the cost of getting you off the slopes, and any subsequent medical costs.

Winter sports with your annual policy?

You may add Winter Sports to your annual policy which will give you up to 17 days winter sports in any year. If you buy our trip policy and select our winter sports option, you will be covered for winter sports for up to 17 days of your trip.

14 Days "no quibble" Cancellation

You may cancel your policy for any reason up to 14 days from the date of purchase and will receive a full refund (so long as your trip has not begun).

To cancel your policy, simply call us or write to us and we'll take care of things for you. We will process your refund swiftly and this will be reflected on your credit card statement around 3-4 days later.
